![]() Isolation Tank EnsembleISOLATION TANK ENSEMBLE is a cinematic, instrumental progressive band from Louisville, Kentucky, known for a sound that defies easy categorization. The band has coined their genre as "trash prog," a term they use to distance themselves from traditional progressive rock comparisons and to highlight their heavy and aggressive approach. The music is a powerful and dynamic fusion of metal, jazz, progressive rock, and even Balkan influences, all delivered with a collective disregard of genre boundaries.
During the COVID-19 lockdown in the spring of 2020, the group created a creative "bubble" to practice relentlessly and develop their unique vision. This period of intense collaboration forged a deep creative bond, establishing them as true artistic partners who understand each other on a profound level. Their full-bodied sound is characterized by overlapping polyrhythms, interweaving melodies, and layered sonic textures that can shift from achingly beautiful to powerfully heavy. With complex, multi-instrumental compositions that often take unexpected turns, the ISOLATION TANK ENSEMBLE are known for their compelling live shows. Their full-length debut album, Heliography, was released in 2023, with their follow-up album currently in the works. On The Web:

THE WORD
"The soundscape that Isolation Tank Ensemble crafts with a combination of atmospheric elements, melodic passages, and strong riffs transports listeners on an enthralling voyage. Their ability to smoothly move between intense and contemplative moments is what makes their music so captivating and captivating to listen to." "I keep saying it and I hope people are listening; there is something incredible going on in the Louisville music scene. There is unprecedented creative original music being made right here, right now. A shining example of that is Isolation Tank Ensemble, and instrumental six piece that combines guitar, bass and drums with keyboards, mandolins and violins to create sweeping cinematic soundscapes that are uniquely all their own" "While listening to them at home, I’d been struck by the vibrancy of their sound. I was especially intrigued by their influences in a number of different genres, ranging from metal, jazz, and even Balkan music. But on this night in Tolono, I was in the mood for something loud, and they delivered." |
